Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) is a condition caused by abnormal contact between the ball and socket of the hip joint, which can lead to labral tears, cartilage damage, and persistent hip or groin pain. Dr Benjamin Ang explains that active individuals and those with certain anatomical variations may be more susceptible to developing FAI, particularly when repetitive movements place additional stress on the hip.

He highlights that symptoms such as groin pain, hip discomfort, and reduced mobility should be ignored, as untreated FAI may accelerate joint degeneration and increase the risk of osteoarthritis. While conservative treatments may help relieve symptoms, early assessment and appropriate intervention are important to preserve long-term hip function and mobility.
